The plan was to ride up over Mingus mountain, to Jerome, and on to Sedona. Which we did...
Mingus Mountain is a road for bikers! :o) a Lite version of the "Dragon" which is back east in ... uh... Georgia or North Carolina I think... The Dragon has something like 300+ turns in 11 miles... 89A over Mingus has 158 in 12 miles...
So... for most riders... it still makes it a good day!
... and... after you get through the touristy stuff in Jerome... which takes me a whole lot less time than herself...
... you roll down off the mountain bound for Cottonwood and Sedona...
I remember goin' to Sedona... maybe 35 years ago... and you'd be out in open, empty, grassland just a couple miles south of town, coming up from the interstate and Cottonwood.
Now... that's all roof tops and parking lots... Sheesh! I guess that Magical Vortex... has sucked in a lot of people! :o)
Though... lot's of folks hunting for vibrations in the rocks and searching for magical vortexes or not... The Scenery, might still be the Major Draw?

Did you really take a picture while riding around that curve? Beautiful country fro riding around there.
I don't think you can go wrong with a ride on any of 89(A). Have you tried the Yarnell Hill?
The red rock country is spectacular, but Sedona is way too overcrowded and could sucked into the vortex for all I care.

FFN; Sure! The Raider has an autopilot! :) actually, the pics when we're ON the bike are taken by the "Back Seat"... juuuuust a bit safer that way.
Gaelyn; Haven't been down by Yarnell in years... chased Wild cows in this country though... from the Bradshaws over into the Mogollon Rim country... but... that was a long, looooong time ago!
