A Prayer for Hope

I try to make sense of this world and this life... and repeatedly, Fail.

There is so much we have, so much potential, so much opportunity and yet, some still insist on destruction.

Some can still only raise up their hands, bloodied by evil and hate.

There are those that will blame it on inanimate metal and wood. That is an ignorant diversion. Evil does not reside in things. It lives within the mind... and the soul. To blame and pursue Things as the source of evil only diverts precious energies and intellect from addressing the actual disease.

Make no mistake... our Society, our World... is Diseased. It is consumed by the sickness of greed. That is what it all boils down to. Greed.

Greed for things. Greed for Power; "Obey My demands... Obey Me, or I will rain destruction and sorrow upon you."

Before we can attack those who do, so plainly, these acts of Pure Evil, we'd better look within our own selves... for the source of the world that gave birth to these vile animals.

Something has produced them. Something nurtures and empowers them. Only when Intolerance for whatever that Something is... becomes our driving motivation will this carnage end.

Only when we stop asking HOW?... and Start asking WHY? Only when we stop trying to hide the tools and start to Eliminate the Motivation... Will there be Hope.

I lay out in the desert... Peace around me... Knowing Something is stalking the rest of the world, it's not just here in the Americas... in Connecticut... in China... Syria... Africa... The Balkans... Indonesia... Mexico... anywhere you choose to look an evil beast is walking...

Why? How can it be stopped? Can it be stopped? Does it take all of us working together? or... each of us, looking inside... and changing themselves... and being intolerant and unforgiving of cruelty and brutality.

... yet remaining compassionate and tolerant in life. It is an eternal paradox.

We abhor the horrors we see on the news every day yet then send our sons and daughters to rain such horror on lands most can't find on a map. When it is done to us it is vile... when we inflict it on others it is honor and patriotism, and we bestow medals.

We need to change. If we are to have Hope... We - Need - To - Change.

In just a few days it will be Christmas. The Christ Mass. Not a happy holiday... Not gimme day... not any of the other names falsely placed in the interest of political expediency.

It is Christmas... and I'm reminded that so long ago... another went out into the desert... trying to find peace in his soul.

As the rain falls like tears...
Brian

Brian,
I couldn't agree more with your statements.
Our country is going in a direction I don't like.
Let's pray we can turn it around and very soon.
