Making a Propane Raid on Escalante... and... Did Anybody Notice?

There's been lot's of comments 'bout our "situation", and all appreciated ... You know... we're in a good camp... got fuel, got coffee and a warm bed... The truck broke just up the road... it could have let go on a high pass, with us left sittin' on the side of the road, blocking traffic... without cell service to get help... We could have had to have had the whole rig towed, and now be sitting in a parking lot... waiting... for a week...  rather then a quiet camp in Far Country...

So... all in all it just ain't that bad... and you know what else? ... maybe this could be viewed as a touch of a lil' lesson... a taste of how... maybe... we could be well off... with even less? Even... better off? hmmm... and... how well off, as far as physical things go, we still are... food for thought...

... good thing you can't gain weight from pondering... or this geezer would be obese!

It looks like a lil' weather is supposed to be coming this way... and a bottle ran out the other day... had been planning on a Cummins hauling propane yesterday... hmmmm.... guess that wasn't gonna happen :)

So... started the day off with a couple hours on the laptop while it warmed up a bit... then... I strapped that 40# bottle on the back seat... twisted the throttle... and The Propane Raider was on the road!

Two wheels baby... :) got a few looks rolling into town... You'd think they'd never seen a guy hauling his BBQ around on his cruiser before! :)

... and you know what? Couldn't even tell it was there... truth is... it's a lot more stable then a passenger wigglin' and squirming back there :)

Then with the heater supplied for our wait... I got back to work on that planned RV Boondocking Campsite list I talked about a bit ago...

Finally hit on a layout I think will navigate the easiest and spent most of the afternoon getting the foundation of it built. Did anybody notice it? :)

To give you the full flavor of finding and using it... If you go to the main site and look over on the nav bar... under the RV Travel button you'll see the "our campsite list"... click on that button and see how the rest works...

When you get there... I only have one campsite page built, the one we're in!... scroll down the list to Utah and you'll see the only live link I've built yet...

... Let me know what you think? :)

The sun is risin'... one more time... and I've got a lot of campsites to go back and find what information I can on... and I've got my "Guy" in trouble in the next Novel I'm working on... so...

I better go and get to hurryin' along with my waiting. :)

Waiting and Tap Tap Tappin' on the Keyboard

You've hit another homerun with your campsite list. It will be very informative and helpful to a lot of us. Just a thought, don't you have a gps app on your Droid X?
Keep up the good work.

I think it's going to be very helpful and I like it... Utah is full of so many camping sites and it's wonderful to read the hidden ones we had no clue about.

I do have a GPS app on the phone... but to be honest... the info "Jumps around" so much... I don't trust it to publish information from... I need to "Acquire" a dedicated GPS :)

Thanks... I put a poll on the first page... about an "Equal" sized addition to "Our Campsites"

I may be settin' myself up for a lot of work!!!! :)

Brian,

You campsite page will be of great help. You are already adding more info than any other boondock list has today. I would only recommend that you list your cell provider, include a Google Earth location and let folks add comments to each listing and you will have a real winner that can produce some solid ad $'s.

I'll get more consistent with the cell provider listing...

I'm trying to keep things from taking up so much space they become cumbersome ... but I'll see what i can do with google earth

hmmm... comments... i don't know how I could get any in there... I'll have to look into that...

CowBoy Brian,
When we were on the road RVing our way around the USA and had problems with ol' Murphy I had a little manta that went something like this...
"The worst days on the road are better than the best days at work."
