So Many Roads, So Many Camps, Soooo Many Words!

I'm like a kid in a candy store some times...

I want to go ride this road, I want to hike that trail... I want to build that wild and radical RV :o), I want to write that next story.... Only... there's only one me... and less than 56 hours in a day!

I guess having plenty of options to pick from is a good thing... right?... just wish I wasn't so freakin' fickle! It would make it a lot easier.

Rode up to Williams yesterday afternoon... Now there's a lil' town doin' better than it used to.

So often, when you run through a small town... the thought; "This place has seen better days" is a common idea. Now, it looks like a lot of their "Business" is summertime related... and the doors aren't open for the season on some... but... it sure looks to me like business in general has picked up a lot since I was a young buck rodeoin' around the state...

I guess that Grand Canyon Railway that tours up to the Canyon, that they started back up a few years back has had a decent impact.

... and they seem to be cashin' in on the Route 66 Traffic.

We walked around town a bit... I spent some time waitin' for herself in a quilting shop... I guess there are two of those in town... We wandered into The Quilters Mercantile...

... and some gal came in... a long way from home, judging by her accent... Eastern Europe?... She was lookin' for a place called the "Singing Pig"...

Well.. the lady in the shop had never heard of it... so I went to lookin' on my fancy Droid smart phone... badda bing! I had it... just down the street, across from the... Uh Oh... Police Station! :)

Turns out it's a new BBQ place in town... only been open a few days... and... since we were hungry... thought we'd make a run at it...

Now... I've told ya'll before... I'm NOT a food critic... and hesitate to recommend such things... Only thing I can say is... we split one sandwhich twixt the two of us... and a deep fried snickers bar???!!!! :o) and ate it all... didn't leave nothin' for the chickens...

Solid food for where I'm from... and good people ... and a Biker to boot! ... runnin' the show!

Just... uh... take it easy comin' an' goin'... cuz the Poh-Leece station... IS... ten steps across the street!

Well... it was gettin' on toward the end of the day... and herself was afeered she'd be cold on the ride home... so we fueled up and headed back west, bound for Ash Fork...

Now... this sign is enough to make a guy headin' for Alaska shake an' quiver...

That is gonna put a heavy dent in my fuel budget to say the least... here's hopin' the brakes get applied to those diesel prices in the close up future...

but... then I spotted this pump... and since I wasn't needing diesel... but gasoline for the Raider... I thought; "Jackpot!"

But... wouldn't you know... the thing wouldn't pump... I cranked it, kicked it... pleaded with it... even kissed the cold metal beast... nuthin'... not a drop...

Now... likely... you're wantin' to know, why it was that I wanted so much... to pump my fuel from this particular pump?

:o)

Well... you see... when you walk up close... lean way over and peer at the rotatin' number doohickey on the front?...

This is what you see...

Yup... if you peer real close (or click on the picture so it gets bigger!) you can see it... 26 cents! :o)

The folks inside refused to turn it on though... False Advertising I claim! Bait and Switch I say!

Call out the Feds! Call out the District attorney! ... call my Senator!

or...

Do like ever'body else... and pump my 2 1/2 gallons the bike needed :o) at $3.99!

Well... had to burn off the 17,000 calories that deep fried snickers bar had in it... so we ran on home against the wind... and sittin' at the desk last night... fiddling with maps trying to work out how I'll present Our Camps in a different and interesting way...

We had to suffer through another hard to take sunset...

*and Another Kaibab Sunset*
Tomorrow, weather co-operating, we're gonna make a circle over through Jerome, Sedona, and Flagstaff... Long day... lots of good roads...

... and likely... a few more words...

So... just so I don't feel guilty 'bout not gettin' my work done... I gotta go now... and get back to writin'... on that "Other" stuff I do... and get that cowboy out of his "Current Predicament".

Writin' and Ridin' across the West!
Brian

Just paid $3.769 a gallon for diesel in Bastrop, Texas.

This evening, diesel was $3.79 and gas was $3.25 in Moorcroft, WY. Yesterday gas was $3.15. Seems like it goes up with each new delivery. Pretty sad when it takes a $20 bill to fill up a motorcycle

Major OUCH on that diesel price. Currently 3.79 in Harlingen, TX. But I need to head back to AZ soon.

I'm thinking fuel is always higher on Williams... it's that "high desert" you know ...and then there's the extra shipping... 'course the trucks goin through here likely haul it to Flag, Prescott and Kingman... and I'll bet my cousins kidneys the price is lower there! ... hmmm... guess I'll wait till one of them to fill up! :-)

Thought I'd pay you a visit Cowboy Brian. How nice of you to help a damsel in distress! I think you may need to do a little more running today to work off that deep fried snickers bar. :-)
