Business Opportunities and Remounting an RV Solar Array...

Hey! Anybody wanna Full-Time, or just about... have a piece of cash... and looking for a "Road Business" to travel with?

How about a NASCAR related business opportunity?

When we were leaving PIR the other day, we stopped just off the Track to see if they might have a jacket for the Granddaughter... no Joy there... but... there was this NASCAR ... Business For Sale Sign...

*NASCAR T-Shirt/Caps/Jackets Business for Sale!*

At first, the posted price of $70,000 sounded like a lot... until I listened to the gal talking to another man...

...looked around a lil' bit... saw how much inventory they've got... and their setup... I'm thinking the price is a pretty good opportunity for the right person.

Seems the gal runnin' the show had a heart attack last summer... and needs to kick back a bit... after operating this business for I think she said 23 years.

*Sale includes the Trailer and all inventory*
So... as I understand it the sale of this NASCAR related business... includes the Show Trailer, which is set up very well, all inventory, their Wholesaler list, they'll hook the buyer up with all their "Parking Locations" for the races... yadda yadda yadda...

Talking to her and her husband for a little while... they struck me as being pretty good folks... and a really squared away operation...

I thought just maybe, somebody reading here might be interested in buying a NASCAR Business or, know somebody who was... so... Serious Inquiries ONLY, give H.D. and Pat Williams, of 'Stock Car Heaven' a call @ 678-283-0716 ...and just so you know... I just posted this 'cause I thought maybe somebody might be interested... kind of a "Neighboring" sort of deal... I'm not gettin' any compensation from it... zip, nada, nuthin'...

OK... Now... Something I've been wanting to do is to reset my Solar Panels...

When we originally installed our RV Solar Power System... what, four years ago or so? The plan was to mount so many panels I'd not have to be concerned with tilting them in the winter to maximize electrical production...

Well... OOPS! ... Things didn't work out where I was able to afford all those panels. Surprised huh? anyhoo... the upshot is... when Mike and I bolted those panels down, we got 'em too close together, so that when I tilted the outboard panel it shaded the bottom of the inboard panel... and that boys and girls is a BAD thing with Solar Panels...

Any shadow falling across a panel, effectively shuts down that panel... so you Don't Want Shadows on Solar Panels!

So... Yesterday I got most of the Solar Panel Reset done...

*RV Solar Panel Array*
Where they were individually mounted to the roof...
Now, they are connected with a couple of pieces of Aluminum Angle... and will tilt as a single unit...

... checking the wattage this morning... with the rig parked here, where the panels are looking East... they were already making 143 watts just after sunrise... which is a very large increase over laying flat... and/or just the back panel tilted...

So... if you're laying out an RV Solar Array... think about shading when you tilt... and space your panels accordingly! Unless you are putting all your panels on at one time... and are putting enough on to eliminate the need to tilt 'em...

I'm guessing that tilting my PV panels kicks up our Solar Power Production by about 30% or more... which, for a poor boy, cuts out a whole lot of $650+ panels he needs to buy! :)  ... And... which I Should have thought about better... in the first place.

I seem to recall someone saying that they were going to add more solar panels so the roof spacing was critical and that the panels wouldn't need to be tilted. But that was a long time ago.

The new tilting arrangement looks nice.

Get some new batteries before one or more cells short out in the old ones and dramatically illuminate any shortcomings in the DC system.

Adios!

:-)Yeah... you recall accurately :o) Like I said... that WAS the plan... right up until world economics got in the way of those additional panels! :o) so... back to square one... and make what I got work...

... and... shhhhhhh.... don't talk to loud about the batteries... The ones we have are still doin' the job nicely... but we Both know... they're on the shady side of the hill at this point... I'd guess less then a year left... still recharge by mid-afternoon...

Now that you are living the good life and spending more time in the boondocks. Your readers(me), would like to know where you are, have you considered add a map link to your blog?

"... I'd guess less then a year left..." Wishful thinking doesn't change facts. I know that finances are a very major consideration, but a shorted cell will leave you without an operational DC system which you now depend upon. I'm thinking that these batteries are about 6 years old? If so you're on borrowed time. Call or email and we'll discuss how you can load test your batteries so we can get some facts.

Adios!

The business opportunity sounds good, not bad to work part time or full time and earn cash.
