Dawdled 'round camp for a bit yesterday morning... no need to be rushin' 'round now... right? But still needful of gettin' ourselves a ways south! :o)
Finally got things ready and pulled out... headed... not sure where. As we pulled in to Walden I thought it would be nice to add a fresh cup of that goooooood gas station coffee to my belly, so we found a spot wide enough to stop the rig, without gettin' a ticket, and with the flashers flashin' I came around the truck to Help Heidi out... her having lamed herself the day before.
Well... where I parked was across the road and down a short bit from the gas station/convenience store...
Now... I don't walk like most folks... kind of have my own lil' wobble an' weave... bein' a disabled vet an' all... uh... that's busted soldier... not broken horse doctor!
anyhoo... some days I walk almost normal... some days not... depends on the weather I guess. :o) So... here I go... wobblin' one way... and Heidi... stiff leggin' it and wobblin' to her own rythym... the two of us thumpin' and gimpin' along, bumpin' in to each other like a pair of blind drunks! .A couple of prime prospects for a greedy bone doctor for sure! :o)
Yep, we're in training for fourteeners at the Wildflower Celebration! :o) that's fourteen FEET... Not 14 THOUSAND! :o)
So, with a fresh cup of Hot Joe... we kept on south... right into a Rocky Mtn. Traffic Jam!
Seemed these "Cowboys" wanted to push some cows, 'cross the road... 'cept... The Cowboy world is in some dire straights these days... 'cause only a single digit IQ Idiot... is gonna bring dogs, 'round Cows with fresh calves... and these bozo wannabes had three!... and as expected... they were pretty much in the middle of a wreck... cows goin' ever' which a way... calves bawlin'... and me laughin' at the clowns tryin' to play Cowboy... Sweet!
A bit earlier the dogs had played in the flowers while we had lunch in a high Mtn pullout...
And then... A few hours later, with that old truck gettin' hot on McClure Pass... we got lucky enough to run out of pass... 'fore I ran out of numbers on the engine temp gauge... so when McClure Pass campground appeared... it looked good to me!... and it's the same spot I camped in last year, when I came through here, in the rain, on my V Star... only this time... it ain't raining all night!
and to put icing on the beer... ??? huh? That don't even sound good to me! ... anyway, Two nights... two camps... total camp fees? Zero Dollars!... Yup... though this is the remains of a National Forest Campground... a couple of companies, one power utility and a mining company, are keeping it maintained... and have made it a "No Fee" camp... so we've got an out house (saves black tank space!)
a picnic table, and a fire ring... for our Smore production!... and No Campground Fee... Sweet!...
... and no Skeeters either... or nearly none... Guess they hauled 'em all up to Gould! :o)
So... after producin' some Smores...
...it was time for an hour of two of writin'... gettin' my lil' books ready for e-publishing... and then off to bed... 'cause I nearly got drunk... drinkin' two of those Alaskan Beers... at something like 10,000 feet! :o)
Posts are a little unscheduled... Verizon ain't as good as they could be... up in these high mountains! :o)

what a beautiful place for you and Heidi to spend a couple of days. Hope all is well with you.
When you started telling us about wobbling across the street, I thought sure you were going to tell us about a small town sheriff picking you up for being tipsy and causing you trouble...on your second day out!! It could only happen to you guys so I figured it might!
So glad to see you are finally on your way. Hope the trying times are behind you now. Enjoy the freedom and best of luck to you.
