One More RV Project in the Books

Struggling with the weather... 65 degrees or so is pretty gol' durn tough to work in ya know! :o) I got the RV Cargo Rack we built to replace the Motorcycle carrier on the tail of the Eagle, buttoned up yesterday.

Having that finished up, took the Aluminum box, the box of leveling blocks and the generator off the truck and mounted in a much easier to access place and eliminates some loading/unloading hassles...

*Fifth Wheel/RV Cargo Rack for Generator and Storage Box*
Since I'm a bit of a cynic... surprised huh? :o) ... that generator is not only bolted down with four bolts... if you look at its lower right side?... can you see that lil' bit of Silver? That, is one of those "Puck" style security locks... hard to access with bolt cutters...

I figure I can't make it impossible to swipe... but if I make it hard enough, at least the lazy thieves will move on to easier pickings. :o)

If you look close you can also see a couple of chairs behind the box... I left enough room between the bolted down parts... to load and store such bulky, awkward to shove in a compartment, things like that. (The biggest fault of our Old Jayco, is a lack of basement storage for such things)

I do believe that this lil' bit of reorganization has improved our Old rig in simple but, really effective ways... Gonna make some of my camp chores a lot easier... being able to access that Storage Box... without having to climb up on the truck... and then get herself to lift me back down will be really nice!

Yup... clearing off the back of the truck will be a big improvement... We were starting to look like 21st century Clampets... what with all the Stuff piled on and hangin' off the rig ever'where... :o) a little neater and cleaner now...

Adding in a lil' convenience with your gear when it comes to setting up or breaking down your camp is a good thing!

Looking great!! Just wondered how all that loaded box, chairs, generator, loaded with gas, and sheet metal to hold it all on compares in weight to the Raider that used to ride back there. Again, it really looks nice and neat.

don't know for sure... but I'm guessing a couple hundred lighter... much of whats in the box isn't very heavy, camp stove some of those "bag" type folding chairs...

two people can lift the generator... and I sure couldn't get the V Star off the ground! :-)

cleaned up the front compartment too... all in all I'm happy with it!

This is quickly becoming my favorite RV blog. I also bought you Boondocking e-book. Enjoying reading it.

I am wondering, what did you do with your bike? I seemed to have missed where that is currently being stored now that its not on the back of you rig.

Keep up the good work!

Have you ran the generator while on the rack? If so how does it effect you inside the rig?
