A Foot in Two Worlds...

It's a hard decision to leave Friends and Family, and go Yondering... it truly is. You can claim to be a hard hearted Ol' grump... that only wants the quiet and solitude of far country... you can claim it... but there are few I'm thinkin'... that actually are that much of a Hermit... only wanting to be alone, all the time...

Even this old ogre, cranky old buster that he is... can't help but feel the arrows punchin' holes in his heart... as he pulls away from his kids house, looks back and sees the tears of this lil' one watchin' her Pappy and Nana, drive away...

Whoosh!... the air just leaves your body... Making it just a lil' difficult to go and do... what you worked so hard for, what you set out to do... to chase that Gypsy hunger deep inside...

... and makes you start wonderin' about and judgin' yourself... one more time...

You ask yourself; "How come it is, that everything I want... stands in the way of everything Else... that I want?"

"How come, everything I treasure... are things that push each other away... things that require so much painful space between 'em?"

So... when you do get back to the Desert... Though that first Sunset is a beautiful and wondrous thing... worn common by its frequency for those that call the Desert Home...

*A Common sight in the Phoenix Desert*
... for a crusty Ol' Buster... struggling his way through a world that only confuses him more and more with each twist and turn in the trail...

"Coming Home" is a Melancholy trip...

We'll be goin' back... Come the spring, we'll be found, following the Wild Geese... Travelin' North... to see Lil' Miss Jillian...

... and I'm sure... until then... there'll be one Ol' Geezer who often asks himself: "What in the hell is wrong with you? Where does your hunger to Drift and Wander come from?"

The only problem with those questions is... they're questions that not I... or any other Rover, with the Gypsy Affliction can answer.

Oh Well... Life in the West... on to other things!

Hunted up a piece of steel yesterday so I can finish up the RV Cargo Rack on the tail of the fiver...

Got it notched and fitted... and today I'll get it painted and riveted into place... I hope! :o)

Had intended to use a perforated material at first, but then got to thinking that with the generator mounted back there... it might be shinier if the decking created a bit of a shield for it, from road splash and debris...

... so... I went with a solid diamond plate...

Geeze... make that sucker a lil' bigger and we could hold a dance back there! :o)

anyhoo... things are movin' along... I don't know that I'm catchin' up on all the work I've let slide this past few weeks... but I am thinkin' I may have put the brakes on fallin' farther behind!

Only time will tell... but as always... that ain't gonna hold true if I stay here a yakkin'... so I better close for today... and get my gypsy cowboy tail to work! :o)

Paintin', riveting and writing... in the Arizona Desert

wow, you came down with The Wanderer's Remorse even faster than we did. Don't worry, it eases with time... you gotta do what you gotta do, and besides, you got the freedom to go visit any time you want to.

BCB; Hey, I likely had the "Wanderers Remorse" a long time ago! :o) ... I'm the King of "Second Guessing!" :o) but, like ya said; "You gotta do what you gotta do"... and maybe that remorse is just a lil' place in your head that makes sure you keep Lloyds "Balance"!! :o)
