Memorial Day 2013

So many Memorial Days have come and gone. Each year the list of those Memorialized grows longer.

The sea of tears shed for the lost grows deeper...

Enjoy the day. Celebrate in the Glorious Freedom Men and Women of Courage have given you.

But always, as you go through the day and your life... keep conscious of the price that was paid to provide you with that Freedom you glory in... and who paid it.

What really p****s me off....are the people that have no clue(or simply don't care) about the sacrifices made by so many...to ensure the freedom that they have.

This is a line I read every day.

"You will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it." ~ John Quincy Adams

I'm disappointed with you for having such a low opinion of freedom that you would besmirch it with the old cliche about 'how they died for our freedom.'

They didn't. When was the last time an American soldier died for American freedom? The spring of 1865?

Since then they have died useless deaths for the sake of the political schemes and foreign policy theories of American presidents and our foreign policy "experts."

Boonie; You see so much yet realize so little.

Yes, thousands upon thousands of America's finest have died on far flung battlefields; having been sent there in the interest of pursuing the foreign adventures and schemes of our own corrupt politicians.

I stand with those who believe that.

But in your ideological tunnel vision you willfully ignore the parallel reality.

While being used by self serving politicians, They have fought and died defending us at the Very Same Time... against the schemes and foreign adventures of FOREIGN POLITICIANS.

Some say we should keep our nose out of others affairs and cease all "foreign intervention". I often agree... The problem there is; If the French had done so, we would still be under the rule of an English Monarch.

Also another philosophical idea comes to mind. "He who does nothing to stop a crime... promotes it."

Apply that to the "World" around us. If we do nothing to stop the crimes against other peoples, by their own corrupt politicians; When we possess the capability to do so, we are unworthy of our own Freedom.

It's never so simple and clear cut as a treasured ideology of wishful thinking would paint.

I think you'll find a very tiny % of Veterans, who have been-there-done-that, who would agree with your maligning the sacrifices of the American Warrior, let alone the arbitrarily narrow perception of the human reality.

But then... I served to ensure that those who came after me would have the environment in which they could hold their own opinions, no matter how incorrect.
