Embracing the Weather When RV Boondocking...

Sort of...

I sat at the table... by the window, through the morning rain and wrote... and wrote... and wrote...

... and when the rain quit just after noon... and the sun came out, Heidi and the dogs took a long walk up the mountain... and I...

Sat by the window... at the table... and wrote... and wrote... and wrote! :)

So... while they were exploring the road up the mountain, in the sunshine...

*Up above the Bitterroot*
... I was lost in my story... adding almost 6,000 words to my next work of fiction! :) ... If I could keep that up, this story would find its end right quick! :)

But, a guy can't just set inside in glorious mountains like these... so, in the afternoon I got the Raider unloaded... so it's down to take into the tire shop, hopefully, today... and then the explorers took me up the road a lil' ways to show me some of what they found...

Now... Kerry, up there in Prince George has been worryin' 'bout so many flower pics. :) thinks the scooter should be leanin' through more mountain canyons... and it will... especially once she gets her new rubber...

... but what can I say, I may be a grumpy Ol' puss gut ,cowboy biker, anti-social, anarchist, would be hermit... but... when you see flowers like this'n...

Ya can't just pass it by, can you? No sliver of an idea what this lil' beauty is called... but it looks kind of carnivorous don't it?

Yeah... It's hard to achieve Lloyds Balance for somebody like me... too short and easily diverted an attention span! :) Flowers, Motorcycles, Wolves, Deer, Mountains, fine rifles, more flowers, Bob Seger...

... and then... yesterday afternoon, as I was finishing up my sweet day of writing... I started hearing this... thump....... thump........ thump.... thump..... thump... thump.. thump thumpthumpthumpthumpthump!

What the hell?

First time or two it was real faint. Thought absent minded that it was a machine somewhere, of some sort... and then as it became clearer it finally struck me... DOH!  that ain't some kid up above on an atv in the distance... that right there is a Ruffed Grouse stud, callin' the girls! :) Suh-Wheet!

He's drummin' in the timber up above us somewhere... maybe I'll get an eyeball on him... before we leave this mountain camp... :)

... and maybe... even one of them Wolves? :) ... as long as they behave themselves... they leave me alone... I'll let 'em... they come lookin' for trouble... they'd better hope I don't have my too small shorts on and am grumpy!! :)

But... till then the flowers and scenery'll have to do... sorry Kerry! :)

You know... if you're payin' attention... ever' once in a while... you'll happen to find yourself in the right place, at the right time... to capture a Jewel... tucked down behind some bushes... you just have to be aware, and open to it...

... and... you'll find 'em...

* Mountain Jewels of the Bitterroot*
Well... If the Raider is gonna go in for her tire today, I'd better start gearin' up... the weather ain't changed none... and it looks like if I go today, I'll be rain ridin' ? ... yeah right.... so what else is new? :)

Ya'll Take Care... and... Go Find Some Jewels

The first time I heard them ruffed grouse, I thought it was an ATV somewhere too. Funny.

Where do you find to dump your tanks and fill up with fresh water when your boon docking?

We are trying to research all we need to do to get ready for a winter in AZ and hopefully we can do lots of boon docking. Been full-timers for 4 years but mostly we've been connected to shore power so a new exprience ahead of us .. any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi Brian,

Your carnivorous little flower is a Fairy slipper-Calypso bulbosa.

It's an orchid. Nice picture!
