No Trip to Lone Pine and the Alabama Hills is Complete...

Without a Visit to the Lone Pine Film History Museum...

But first... a Photographic interlude amongst the fabled Alabama Hills... You've seen 'em before... in something like a few hundred or so Western films... quite a few Auto Commercials... and for you Sci-Fi Fans... TREMORS! ;)

Can you see the lil' chalet? RV Boondocked amongst the towering rocks?

There's no shortage of scenery amongst the spirit filling space of the Owens Valley... There's also tales of heart crushing sadness... but let's hold off on that...

First, when you get back to town, needing some beer to replenish the fluids you lost drooling all over the rocks and sand on your hikes and jaunts... make sure to stop in at the film history museum...

First thing in the door that greets you is a possible option as a trailer toter if you're in to pull type trailers...

It comes equipped with a device to hurry slow stollers along...

... if they should dawdle too long in their transit of the local cross walks...

...as well as VERY practical upholstery...

*Caddy of the Tailor to the Stars*

Don't miss the appropriate travel attire created by the same fella sitting on the rear deck... at least if you're not the shy sort ...

This is a FILM museum...

I made no effort to count the Movie posters adorning the walls of most if not all of the films shot in total or in part... in the vicinity of Lone Pine...

Roy Rogers, Randolf Scott, John Wayne...

Clint Eastwood, Charleton Heston ~ My President ;) ~

 The posters adorn the walls...

Exhibited all over the floors are Saddles, Chaps, the Gunsmoke Stage Coach...

Coats worn by famous stars in Famous Movies... complete with the "Squib" bullet holes in the sleeves... :)

and art from fellas I'll bet most of you didn't know was a FINE artist...

Remember "Newly"? The Gunsmith on Gunsmoke?

Carrying the Real name of Buck Taylor...

He painted both these works...

And I'm sure you'll recognize this Beauty...

Uh Huh... Miss Kitty herself...

A collection that really touched me was this one for Audie Murphy...

Read his Congressional Medal of Honor Citation... The Man Played genuine western heroes on the silver screen... He may have been the only one who truly WAS, A Genuine Western Hero... double rectified and gold plated.

What can I say... A lot of "Tourist Trap" places turn me off...

I wasn't real sure what to expect when we went in...

I was nicely impressed with what they've got when I came out... A very nice stop.

From Will Rodgers... And Audie Murphy...

To Nudies Caddy and a nicely done docu-movie of the areas film history...

I didn't have the slightest feeling of being "Fleeced" by the "suggested" $5 admission donation.

When you're in the area, it's a stop I'd recommend.

Let's finish out today's tour with a few more eye candy images of the Alabama Hills area that's our current RV Boondocking Yard...

*What WE call Elephant Rock in the Alabama Hills*

I'd better cut it off now... 'tween the museum and the countryside... I could go on an on and on and...

Add the eastern slope of the Sierras to your travel plans. You can fill your eyes, fill your bellies, and tickle your memories... as well as Touch your Heart and Soul in the environs of Lone Pine, California.

So Much to See... and far too Short a Life for it All.

The Owens Valley from Lone Pine to Bishop (and maybe a little beyond)- heaven on Earth. Love the museum, the Alabama Hills, and everything about Hwy. 395. Thanks for sharing the pictures - they made my day. Are you headed towards Bishop? If so check out the Laws Railroad Museum, 6 miles NE of Bishop.

Oh, we LOVE Lone Pine and the eastern Sierra! :-) Love that museum, too! Every time we drive up 395, hubby has to drive through the Alabama Hills.
